How to Get Up on Roller Skates

The first thing to practise, because you'll use it constantly. Get onto all fours, bring one skate flat under you so the knee points up, press your hands on that knee and push up to standing - weight over your feet.
Gear on this page: one product is named further down — JBM Adult & Kids Knee Pads, Elbow Pads and Wrist Guards. It is optional, the page works without it, and the links to it are Amazon affiliate links.
You will use this dozens of times in your first month, so learn it before you learn to roll. It is not a fitness move — it is a sequence.
Onto all fours. Bring one skate flat under you so the knee points up at the ceiling. Both hands on that knee. Press down through the hands and stand, weight over your feet.
On a slick floor, set your toe stops (quads) or your heel brake (inline) first so the skates cannot slide out from under you halfway up.
Keep going: this is one section of the full Roller Skating for Beginners guide — sizing, gear, stopping, and where to skate, in one page. Free, no sign-up, nothing to buy.
